January 10 is National Cut Your Energy Costs Day—and this year we’re celebrating with our partner Arizona Public Service (APS). APS is spotlighting simple ways customers can save energy and lower bills. APS estimates the typical household can save ~25% on utility bills—over $2,200 per year—with energy-efficiency measures.
Enervee powers the APS Marketplace, a one-stop shop for 20+ categories of energy-efficient products with transparent pricing, instant incentives (when available), and program enrollments at checkout. The Marketplace also supports APS Cool Rewards—smart thermostat rebates plus bill credits for participating in demand response events.
In summer 2020, APS partnered with Enervee, Google, and EnergyHub to make up to 100,000 smart thermostats available at no cost to customers. Thermostats could be ordered on the APS Marketplace with automatic pre-enrollment into Cool Rewards at the point of purchase.
“The main driver was our marketplace provider, a company called Enervee. We instituted demand-response pre-enrollment so customers could have a more seamless experience when they visited the APS Marketplace online; they could automatically enroll at the point of purchase… In the first year, we sold about 40,000 thermostats through the marketplace at a rate of 97% pre-enrollment—tremendously successful.” — Kerri Carnes, Manager of Product Development & Strategies, APS
All of those connected thermostats add up. During the peak of the 2021 Arizona summer, APS Cool Rewards shed nearly 80 MW of load—reducing grid stress and emissions while helping customers save. As enrollment grows, so does the impact.
A modern utility marketplace meets customers at the moment of need—when equipment fails or upgrades are planned—and brings the whole journey into one calm checkout:
