Energy-smart commerce for utility programs
Help customers when the water heater fails. That's where the scale is.
557 units in one day on one utility marketplace. Water heaters are the proof — the platform does it for every category.

The platform
Your program has to be there when the customer decides.
Most programs arrive after the decision, through a rebate application. By then the model is chosen and the efficiency is locked in for a decade or more.
The clearest way to see Enervee: it is a midstream program, and the marketplace is the retailer. Your incentive is applied at the point of sale instead of reimbursed weeks later — the same structure your midstream HVAC and water heating programs already use, running online.
Not a store your program links to. The channel it runs through.

The patented Enervee Score® rates every model on the market 0–100, updated daily across 40+ categories. Making efficiency visible is itself the intervention — no rebate, no incentive spend.
77%
of gross electric savings attributable beyond incentives
Efficiency mix per transaction · TSB per incentive dollar
- Independent ETCC assessment of a large California utility's online marketplace: 77% of gross electric savings and 88% of gas savings were attributable to the marketplace experience beyond any incentives. Over 10% of 5.2M residential customers used it; 60% called it very helpful.
- Guidehouse evaluation of ComEd Efficient Choice: claimable energy savings achieved without product rebates — 509 MWh net of free ridership, annualised from a 10-month pilot, meeting 90/25 confidence and precision. ComEd subsequently approved it as an ongoing offering in its energy efficiency portfolio.
- 86% of those customers reported a more favourable opinion of their utility after using it; satisfaction 8.6/10.
- Three randomised controlled trials, 200 respondents each: showing the Score raised the Enervee Score® of the product chosen from 85.5 to 89.5, 84.5 to 89.3, and 84.8 to 88.9 — all significant, with the largest effect among low-income shoppers.
- Plus an observational study across six live marketplaces: visitors sorted by energy attributes more often than by retail price, and the Score was used most. All four studies found the effect.
- Estimated bill savings information did not behave consistently — no effect in the general population, partial among low-income shoppers, significant only once the purchase context was concrete.
- Shoppers replacing a broken appliance chose significantly less efficient models than those buying by plan — and the Score worked in both cases.
- Arquit Niederberger & Champniss, Energy Efficiency 11:1657–1671, 2018: — open access, peer reviewed. The Score is independent of federal standards.
- The effect does not decay: it shapes one purchase, and the efficiency is locked in for the life of the appliance.

At the transaction
Deliver the rebate at checkout, or anywhere else they bought
Rebate amounts appear on the product before purchase, so customers aren’t guessing at what qualifies. Instant at checkout, or processed post-purchase for buys made anywhere — at your existing incentive levels. Efficiency, electrification and resiliency measures run the same rails, from a heat pump water heater to a portable power station.

Cost per install · time-to-measure · applications processed per day
- Tens of thousands of rebates processed a year, and millions of dollars of utility incentives delivered — instant at checkout and post-purchase through Fast Track™. Figures are Enervee’s own transaction records.
- On one gas utility’s water heater programme the marketplace averaged 67 orders a day, with the annual incentive budget fully subscribed by Q1.
- Roughly 75% of water heater replacements happen because the old unit failed (NEEA).
- Eligibility is verified against your own customer records in real time by API or scheduled file sync, before any incentive is applied. Across several thousand instant rebates processed in 2025, no validation errors were identified.
- Uploaded receipts are verified with AI assistance rather than a manual queue; payout by utility check or instant digital payment.
- Enervee runs the call center and customer support under SLAs, processing thousands of rebate applications a day whether or not the purchase happened on the marketplace.
- Efficiency, electrification and resiliency all run the same rails. Preparedness and resiliency categories — portable power stations, generators, air purifiers — carry no efficiency rating, no TRM line and no ENERGY STAR tier, and run on the same rails.

Pre-enroll in demand response in the same checkout
Enrollment can’t complete until the device is installed and online. Pre-enrollment captures the commitment at purchase and completes when the device connects — two program measures from one acquisition, and load flexibility from an efficiency budget.

DR pre-enrollment cost per device · completion rate after install
- DOE, Pathways to Commercial Liftoff: Virtual Power Plants, 2025 Update — names Enervee as a marketplace partner delivering point-of-purchase demand response enrollment.
- 97% pre-enrollment across roughly 40,000 thermostats on one utility's program, per that utility's own account in Public Utilities Fortnightly, January 2022.
- The 60%+ benchmark DOE cites comes from another marketplace provider’s published result.
- DOE documents the incentive structure: a $30 instant rebate at checkout plus $85 off for pre-enrolling into the DR programme. A live cart shows a third layer stacked on top — a $20 manufacturer discount — taking a $209 thermostat to $74.
- Program-level load figures belong to the utility and vary widely; we don’t claim them.

Make the rebate budget go further
Eco Financing® sits at checkout, underwritten by lending partners — no cost to the utility, nothing on your balance sheet, no change to your approved incentive levels. Customers pick the longest term, up to 60 months, because they optimise the monthly payment rather than the APR. Low income customers who would otherwise abandon the purchase complete it.

of micro-loans to lower-income or credit-challenged borrowers

- CPUC GoGreen Home impact evaluation, 2024: 85% of micro-loans went to lower-income or credit-challenged borrowers.
- NYSERDA NY Marketplace final report, 2024: 51% of financed purchases came from disadvantaged communities, against 35% of the population.
- Without financing, only 20% would have purchased at the same or higher efficiency.
- Customers overwhelmingly select the longest available term to minimise the monthly payment; the rate is a secondary consideration for them. On the project above, 60 months puts it at $69 a month where six months would be $554.
- Nationally, loans are made by U.S. Bank: 0% APR on short terms of three to six months, with utility rate buydown available on terms up to 24 months.
- In California it runs as GoGreen Financing through KeyPoint Credit Union, on the state’s existing credit-enhancement pathway: terms from 6 to 60 months, APRs from 4.24% on shorter terms to 10.49% at 60 months (range 4.24%–11.49% effective 1 May 2026).
- Minimum credit score 580, and applying does not affect the applicant’s credit score — which is why the loan book reaches credit-challenged borrowers. Available on products from $500 up to a $5,000 total purchase.
- Financed customers complete the purchase without an additional incentive dollar.

FAQ
What program teams ask before they buy.
What is a utility marketplace, and what does Enervee run?
A utility marketplace is an online store your program runs as the retail channel: customers shop real products at real prices with your incentive already applied, instead of buying elsewhere and applying for a rebate afterwards. Enervee builds and operates it white-label under your brand — every model on the market rated for efficiency, live pricing, eligibility checked against your records, and rebates applied at checkout.
Which energy efficiency programs can run on it?
Efficiency, electrification and resiliency measures run the same rails across your DSM portfolio — from a heat pump water heater to a portable power station. An independent ETCC assessment of a large California utility's online marketplace attributed 77% of gross electric savings and 88% of gas savings to the marketplace experience beyond any incentives.
Can you run our heat pump water heater program?
Yes, including the emergency replacement. Roughly 75% of water heater replacements happen because the old unit failed (NEEA), and most programs aren't present for that moment — the customer takes what the contractor has on the truck. One Southern California gas utility runs its water heater program through the marketplace, with installation and haul-away priced at checkout.
Can you enroll customers in demand response at the point of purchase?
Yes. Pre-enrollment is captured at purchase and completes once the device is installed and online, so one acquisition becomes two program measures and load flexibility comes out of an efficiency budget. DOE's Virtual Power Plants Liftoff report names point-of-purchase enrollment as a high-impact lever and identifies Enervee as a marketplace partner delivering it. On one utility's thermostat program, pre-enrollment ran at 97% across roughly 40,000 devices, as reported by that utility in Public Utilities Fortnightly.
Can you deliver our existing utility rebates?
Yes, at your existing approved incentive levels — no change to workpapers or approved measures. Instant at checkout, or processed afterwards through Fast Track™ for a purchase made anywhere. Eligibility verifies against your own customer records in real time by API or scheduled file sync, and Enervee runs the call center under SLAs.
What security, privacy and accessibility standards do you meet?
Enervee is SOC 2 Type II audited, with a public trust report, and handles customer data under CCPA. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit with keys held in hardware security modules, and the application is penetration tested by third-party specialists. The marketplace is built to WCAG 2.1 AA.
